Trip to Malacca/Melaka -about Food

waiting for the foods in "Malaysia 13 States Coffee" Restaurant (another name is Calanthe)

"Sambil berenang minum air"- A famous proverb in Bahasa Indonesia mean that doing 2 things in the same time while acquiring benefits from both.
The proverb above doesn't mean this posting has any connection about business. Hahaha. What i wanna share today is about my short trip in Malacca. Why is it very beneficial for me? Because I did 2 things in the same time, doing my valuation assignment and also having a very nice vacation.

I've been thinking having one more trip to malacca. Well i came there once last year doing my "introduction to Malaysia" trip with my group mates. But i know it wasn't enough at all (rakus banget gua, pengen jalan2 mulu :p ) hahaha. I want to explore more places since my classmate who is mallaca citizen told me that there is night bazaar which sells a lot of vintage stuffs. And she said that Malacca has many more nice places to go and delicious foods to taste. So, kenapa nggak kan? Grab the chance!! >_<

Dan akhirnya, sehabis kelas saya dan teman-teman pergi ke sana. We took from bus university to Midvalley KTM train station. And got train to Bandar Tasik Selatan KTM station. Ultimately got bus from Bandar Tasik Selatan bus station to Malacca. We spent kira-kira 3 hours sampai ke Melaka Sentral.  Sampai di sana, my friend's mom picked us to their house. I'm so glad, my friend- Leet Ying- is very kind to let me stay at her house. Because she's chinese and I'm moeslem. Religion background isn't a problem to have a good relation with friends ^_^.  The only problem is the food hehehe. I love eating and I must get food outside her house (my friend's family eats non-halal food sometimes)  but never mind, that's what i love to do- trying all malacca famous food (rakus nggak nahan :p).

Foods
Since i love eating LOL, i took chance to hunt foods in Malacca. Well, i couldn't try all, but at least aku udah pernah coba beberapa hahaha. Leet Ying told us some famous restaurants and of course those serving halal foods. From the list she told me, I grabbed almost all of them hahaha. Yeah, because of that i got gastric problem instead. Tapi siapa peduli? Perut saya sudah gede luar biasa gara-gara gastric issue yang saya punya. Tapi untungnya ga parah-parah amat. The most important thing is makan sepuasnya!! :D

Here we go!! the food presentation.............
eng ing eeeeeeenggg :p

1. Dinner at the first night in "Pak Putra Restaurant" with Naan+Spinach (I think they blend it with cheese and other things). Leet Ying loves the spinach a lot. it consists a lot of fiber and cause sakit perut alias mencret-mencret keesokan harinya hahaha
2 and 3. Having Lunch on the second day in the restaurant called "Malaysia 13 States Coffee". It's the workplace of my friend. Dia kerja part time di sana. Because I love spicy food and seafood, she suggested me to choose "Asam Pedas Pari" (Sour and Spicy Ray) + Cucumber juice with Lemon and Asam Boi. The drink is very fantastic. Although i dont really like sour drink, but the sensation of the mixtures is very WOW (udah kayak iklan aja :p ). The Asam Pedas Pari is delizioso!! Walau standard kepedasannya kurang (menurut saya yang doyan pedas), tapi kekentalannya muantap. Sluurrppp :D.
4.Coconut Shake Special!! Crispy crispy gimaanaaa gitu. Muantab ditambah one scoop of ice cream!! I heard from my friend that it's originally from melaka. How lucky i am!!

1. NADEJE. Oh God! I think it's the most yummy layer cake i've ever eaten. Kalo kue lapis yang biasa di indo mah kalaaaahh!! (Why am i so over? :p) Again, this cake is only found in Melaka. bcz it's original from melaka. There are 3 branches in Malacca. Wonder if i can buy it in KL. U know what, while you eating this cake, u can feel layer by layer and each cream between the layer. Fantastico!!
2. It was very cold night because  obviously it's rainy season. So, i came to "malaysia 13 States Coffee" restaurant again to get hot drink here. I got a cup of ginger tea, another one is my friend's choice-cappucino. Warms the body.....
3. My choice for the dinner was seafood padprik. Actually i can find it in my dorm cafetaria. But this one is different. Because it's more delicious and it's seafood!! (Terlalu cinta product laut-anak pulaaaauuu, biasaaa :p )
4. My morning started with a heavy meal!! haha. I ate ketupat+ayam rendang+tahu goreng+kelapa (Well, hard to explain in english LOL). In this meal, i really like the bean sauce. Because in my town back in Indonesia we usually eat ketupat with soup.
in Nadeje with Siow Kuan and Leet Ying

Btw i tasted some other foods also, but i didnt take the picture hehe. And i am very curious about Sate Celup, but Leet Ying said it's non halal. So sadly, no way for me to taste it. Btw, that's all my food presentation during the vacation in Melaka. Not much i could try, cause i only spent 3 days 2 nights there. But still feel blessed!!

Big Thanks to Leet Ying and Family and my Assignment Groupmates, also for the Restaurants hahahhaha

  1. hi.. i was stumble upon your blog. im going for a trip to malacca and i was listing some places that i should eat. i've been reading a lot on the mille crepe cake, unfortunantely its not really that halal. most of the cakes were added some rum/alcohol. there were some halal. but if the product was prepared in same bowl/ spatula.. i think it is better not to eat it. i also wanted to try it at first because i saw in one of the popular muslim tv show on hunting for food in melaka, and the tv presenter actually ate the crepe.. maybe they dont investigate earlier... i dont know.. anyway thanks for sharing your experience. :)

    1. Hi Hana! Thanks for visiting my blog. Based on my experience, it's hard to find halal food in Jonker Street, Malacca. And as what I saw the restaurants there are dominated by Chinese restaurant. And for the cake, I recommend you to try Nadeje. But you must firstly ask, because some of the cakes consist of rum. I think the best you can do before you buy foods is asking. At the time I went to Malacca, I found it easier for me to get halal food because I was accompanied by my local Chinese friends. So the know what I shouldn't eat.
Btw, have a nice trip ya! Sorry I can't help much ^_^
